THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

"Don't you ever co-sign ANY loan!",  "Never take out a loan on your 401k!"  -  Suzie Orman

SUPERMAN IS A LION!  District 50 Webmaster Irwin Santos(AKA Clark Kent) with sidekick Karen (AKA Lois Lane of the Daily Planet and recently Mrs. Karen Santos).  Also appearing at the 73rd Convention of D50 were Daily Planet Editor Perry White (AKA Paul Steinfort) and Reporter Jimmy Olsen (AKA Paul Kudo).

KUDOs to our PCLC humanitarian Lion Eryle Okamura!  Dr. Eryle is our resident Optometrist who tirelessly performs eye examinations at all our Vision Screenings and still finds time to Coach a football team and Cook at his family's restaurant, Kitchen Delight.  Congratulations Lion Eryle & CIS Susan, to our NEWLYWEDS!

KUDOS to Lion Tom Oshiro, our lone Grafitti Buster for many years, who is still continuously painting over grafitti whenever they appear on walls & overpasses in Pearl City.  He singlehandedly makes a huge difference in our community.   UPDATE - Lion Tom recently obliterated the numerous tags on both pedestrian overpasses on Moanalua Rd in Pearl City.   Way to go, Tom!

KUDOS to Lion Dexter Aoki & Lion Raymond Nii, our new Graffiti Busters, who have bravely taken on the taggers  in Aiea, sometimes painting several days in a row as the taggers perform repeat hits night after night.   Their dedication is truely astounding and a godsend for our club and community!  Good job, Lions!

KUDOS to Lion Jeoffrey Cudiamat for his recent appointment to the City Prosecutor's Office under Keith Kaneshiro..  Lion Jeoffrey owns two engineering firms and was recently named Young Engineer of the Year by the Hawaii Council of Engineering Societies and Young Entrepreneur  of the Year by the Filipino Chamber of Commerce.

KUDOS to Pearl City Lion and State Representative K. Mark Takai, a Major in the Hawaii Army National Guard, deployed to Kuwait for 6 months.  We are proud of his dedication and service, and welcomed him home after a successful deployment.

KUDOS to Kamehameha Lion Jim Bryan for his brave TWO missions to deliver over 10,000 pairs of recycled eyeglasses to the needy in Afghanistan.   After surviving his first harrowing mission and dining on local "delicacies", he was still able to appear as the "Great Baloni" at the 73rd State Convention Fun Night, May 8, and entertain the Lions in style (& beard).  This 2nd mission was a great success with the help of his club's Afghanistan Lions, the now "neutralized" glasses could be fitted more accurately to the needs of the patients.
